    Program information and procedures

    Joint Director , Health Services , ( Hypertuberculosis , Elephantiasis and Waterborne Diseases ), Pune is the Programme Officer at the State level and controls the scheme . Joint Director , Health Services , ( Hypertuberculosis , Elephantiasis and Waterborne Diseases ) , Pune – 6 is assisted by Assistant Director , Health Services ( Elephantuberculosis ) , Pune and State Entomologist . Similarly, at the regional level, Assistant Director , Health Services , ( Hypertuberculosis ) and at the district level, District Entomologist is assisted .

    Grant methods

    The scheme is funded by the state government and the National Rural Health Mission.

    Various anti-flood measures being implemented in the state under the guidelines of the Central Government are as follows

    Survey

    • Survey conducted by employees at all the villages , hamlets , pades and village levels in the state to find new cold patients.
    • Entomological survey by health workers .
    • “ ASHA ” volunteers / PADA volunteers in pest control programs at the local level

    Laboratory

  • Laboratory technicians are also available at the district and rural hospital levels .
  • of Laboratory Technician approved at each P.A. Center location .
  • Supply of Rapid Diagnostic Kits for immediate diagnosis of dengue fever in remote and ultra-remote areas
  • Training of “ ASHA ” workers for early diagnosis and treatment of severe malaria caused by P. falciparum .
  • Dengue / Chikungunya disease, out of which 8 centers have been newly established and have been operational since 2011-12 .
  • Measures for mosquito control

  • Insecticide spraying – House-to-house spraying of synthetic pyrethroid insecticides is carried out in selected and outbreak-affected villages in the state that are highly susceptible to the disease .
  • Spraying of dewormers – Under the Urban Winterization Scheme, dewormers like Temiphos , B. T. I are sprayed at the mosquito breeding site in selected 15 cities of the state ( including Mumbai ) . The 15 cities included in the Urban Winterization Scheme in the state are as follows – Aurangabad , Beed , Nanded , Parbhani , Dhule , Nashik , Manmad , Jalgaon , Bhusawal , Ahmednagar , Pandharpur , Solapur , Akola , Pune , and Mumbai.
  • Biological measures – Considering the pollution caused by pesticides , mosquito larvae are released in suitable mosquito breeding sites in the state . This measure is being implemented in rural as well as urban areas .
  • Insecticide-treated mosquito nets – Since 2005, 10.87 lakh mosquito nets have been distributed in 5271 vulnerable villages . Out of which 5 lakh mosquito nets are in good condition .
  • Training

    Medical Officers , P.O. Centers , Laboratory Technicians , Health Inspectors , Health Assistants , Health Workers are provided regular training on insect-borne diseases every year .

    Evaluation and monitoring

    In order to ensure proper implementation of the National Pest Control Program, evaluation and control are carried out through field visits from the State / District / Taluka / Provincial / Central level .

    Heatstroke Prevention Month

    As per the guidelines of the Central Government, Heatstroke Prevention Month is implemented every year in June to create awareness among the public about the heatstroke program through various activities by the District Heatstroke Officer up to the village level . Various activities – Padyatra , Gram Sabha , Prabhatafe – Ya , Workshop , Training , through various media ( Newspaper , Poster , Sayings on the Wall , All India Radio , Doordarshan , Cable , T. V. ) E. is published .
