Scheme information
To control the rapidly growing population, the National Family Welfare Programme has been implemented in our country since 1952. Under this programme , temporary methods of prolonging the period of bearing children such as condoms , contraceptive pills , contraception , emergency pills , etc. are available to keep a distance between two children . To stop bearing children, surgical and non-surgical gynecological surgeries and non-surgical and traditional male vasectomy are available .Monthly sterile sterilization camps are conducted at the private sterilization centers in the district and sterile sterilization surgeries are conducted at designated private sterilization centers and rural hospitals. By organizing camps, the eligible beneficiaries are motivated and their surgeries are performed by the health workers . After the surgery, they are given incentive compensation .Public awareness is created through special health education on issues such as early marriage , the obsession with wanting a son , and the short gap between two children .
Implementing the State Population Policy
To reduce the birth rate, there is a need to improve the quality of implementation of the family welfare program . This includes maximizing sterilization surgeries on 1 or 2 children , accepting male sterilization , and using birth control methods efficiently to maintain an adequate distance between 2 children .
