    Under the National Rural Health Mission The Central Government has launched this ambitious scheme with the vision of providing successful and continuous healthcare services to the rural population in particular . As part of the campaign at the rural level, a female health volunteer (ASHA) is being selected in every village . She will be a recognized social health worker . The Asha should be a resident of the local village and should have completed at least 8th standard education . It is expected that those in the age group of 25 to 45 years (married / widow / divorced / divorced ) should be given preference and should have a preference for social work . She will be selected by the local Gram Panchayat, so she will work in the villages as a link between the villagers and the healthcare service . After selection, she has to complete 23 days of training in five phases within 1 year . Based on this knowledge and skills, she will convince the villagers of the importance of healthcare by providing information in the local language in the village . Therefore, she will be accepted in the society . Will increase as . Asha is not a government employee or an honorary employee, but she will be paid or given financial benefits according to the work done . As a member of the Village , Health , Nutrition, Water Supply and Sanitation Committee, preparing a plan for the village level health scheme and taking action as per the instructions of the members by providing timely information to the committee about the implementation or not will be an important part of her work . Giving medicine to people for minor ailments and taking pregnant mothers , children, etc. to health institutions on special occasions is also expected from the Asha volunteer .     Eight duties of an ASHA worker

    • Village level health planning
    • Communication for behavioral changes in people’s health
    • Coordination with Anganwadi workers , midwives , health workers , health workers , health workers .
    • Counseling
    • Assisting in transporting the patient to the hospital .

    Job openings

    • ASHA volunteers are expected to commit four days a week, 2 to 3 hours each day .
    • ASHA will cooperate with Anganwadi and sub-centers on the day of the health service session .
    • Treatment of minor ailments as well as provision of supplies like ORS , condoms , contraceptive pills etc. can be done at her home .
    • She will periodically attend and guide the meetings of self – help groups , village women’s councils , village health and nutrition , sanitation and water supply committees , etc.
